Having worked as an architect in London and Athens, Katerina now runs a private design studio undertaking projects of bespoke & handmade interiors, furniture and ceramics. Over the years, her personal need for expression through craftsmanship led her to the art of ceramics. As an architect she was intrigued by the freedom of expression that clay offered her and the design possibilities available due to its plastic properties.
Katerina lives and works in the historic center of Athens. She is inspired by her topos and its tradition. Her design interest lies in the handmade object while she admires forms and decoration found in primitive pottery for the simplicity and balance they express between function and aesthetics. From wallpapered interiors, to a wooden cabinet and a clay vessel, she is passionate about interpreting traditional arts & crafts techniques into contemporary applied arts and design products.
